For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves.

The truth is that before you decided to lay all of your chips on Christ and become a Christ follower you were dead. Your life was an oxymoron, you had a dead life. The Bible says that anyone who follows Jesus has abundant life. The flip side of that is anyone who is not following Jesus is dead; maybe not physically dead but certainly spiritually and eternally. So what happened, did Jesus throw some “miracle powder” on you and all of a sudden you have life? No, the reason you have life is because Jesus Christ laid aside his privileges of being in Heaven and came down to earth and died a horrible death on a cross. We now have life because of what Jesus accomplished through His death. He has removed all of sins past, present, and future. The reason we now live an abundant life and not a life filled with darkness is because of the awesome power of Jesus!
Do you remember in the 80’s when the Transformer (more than meets the eye) toys were a hit? They could change shapes and sizes by twisting them certain ways. Even though the toys could transform from say an airplane into a boat, they still remained the same toy. There were still plastic and stayed the same color. Our transformation is totally different than the transformation of the toys. We have completely changed. Our image has gone from death into life. We are not the same person. We have been transferred once and for all from darkness, and now live a new life. If Jesus had decided to stay in Heaven and not come down and die on the cross we would have remained in the darkness forever. It is only because Jesus became a man like me and you, lived a perfect life (without sin), and paid for our sin by dying on the cross that we have been transformed into our new self.
Prayer Focus: Make your prayer today a prayer of thanksgiving. Thank God for the life He has given you. Thank God for what He has done at Northview and for what He is going to do. Ask God to transform others through your witness.
