Day 9: FAITH / TRUST
Posted by Northview Prayer Team on October 16, 2007
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
To show we trust God, we have to take some risks. We may have to risk our status, or our relationships with others, or our secure financial futures. Of all the people in the world who should be taking risks, it should be believers in Christ. Believers are loved unconditionally and have a source of joy that cannot be taken away: the salvation of our souls.
Having spent 8 years in the Aerospace industry, I have found that it pays to take risks in order to promote a safer, more reliable product. These risks may involve being honest even when it hurts or sharing your expertise even though it may cost you a little job security. Last week I was part of Flight Readiness Review. As the Product Team Leader it was my job to communicate any concerns or issues with a first flight of a certain new aircraft. After a year of work on this project, it was tempting to say that there were not any issues, even though there were a few small issues. However, I did things God’s way and told the full truth about any shortcomings in the design. While I took some heat, I felt better about myself and I think my honesty opened the door for other Product team leads to do the same.
Where are you taking on risks for God? Are you taking risks in your relationships, with your career, with your money, or with your time?
Prayer Focus: Pray that God will show you where you can grow in your own life by taking risks for Him or with Him. Pray the same thing for your community group, your area of ministry at church, and our pastor and staff.
